Applied Science Technologists and Technicians Act Receives Proclamation
Further
to the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and
Technicians (SASTT) Act being given Royal Assent in May 1997,
the Act was finally proclaimed on October 20, 1998. Legal
recognition for the applied science / engineering technology
professional is now a reality. Among the major provisions of the
Act are the following:

increase
public protection through strict criteria in the
registration of professional applied science / engineering
Technologists and Technicians in Saskatchewan;
-
to
provide improved disciplinary procedures to protect the
public and protect member’s rights;
-
to
recognize and protect the designation by which professional
Applied Science Technologists and Certified Technicians are
known;
-
the legal
recognition of SASTT by an Act of the Legislature;
-
to
improve the ability of the Association to govern its own affairs.
The
SASTT Act will enable the Association to better serve the public
and its members.
The
Saskatchewan Legislature has given its official recognition to
the practice of Applied Science / Engineering Technology by
passing the SASTT Act. Applied Science Technologists (A.Sc.T.)
and Certified Technicians (C.Tech.) are now legally recognized
as a defined group of professionals.
