The
Saskatchewan Applied Science
Technologists and Technicians (SASTT) is a self-governing body
of men and women who have been certified by their peers as
having a recognized level of post-secondary academic and
practical training in a specialized applied science /
engineering technology field.
Applied Science Technologists, and Certified Technicians
are individuals who are capable of assuming responsibility,
and of exercising independent judgement in the fields of
Applied Science / Engineering Technology in which they are
trained. Applied Science Technologists, and Certified
Technicians and Technologists have post-secondary training, or
equivalent, in the principles of applied mathematics, and
applied science / engineering technology. They must have a
minimum of two years of relevant experience in the application
of these principles to obtain registration.
History
The Association was formerly
established under the name of The
Society of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of
Saskatchewan (SETTS) in 1965. In 1988, the members
voted unanimously to change to our present name which
encompasses all disciplines of registration.
Purpose
-
To protect the public by
regulating the professional conduct of Applied Science
Technologists, and Certified Technicians in the Province of
Saskatchewan;

To increase the knowledge, skill,
and proficiency of Applied Science Technologists, and
Certified Technicians;
-
To foster a better understanding
of Applied Science Technologists, and Certified Technicians by
industry and the public at large.
Operation of the Association
SASTT is a growing organization, with members
throughout Saskatchewan. The governing body of the
Association is a Board of Directors elected by the
membership at the Annual Meeting. The Board of Directors
consists of a President, Past President, 1st
and 2nd Vice Presidents, a minimum of five
Directors, an Executive Director, and a Registrar.
The President, and Vice Presidents are elected
annually by members of the Association. Directors are
elected for two-year terms.
As membership grows, chapters will
develop to meet the requirements of members within defined geographical areas. Presently, SASTT supports the
following Chapters:

How SASTT is Funded
The annual membership fees for professional Applied
Science Technologists, and Certified Technicians are established by the membership at the Annual General
Meeting.
